About the Hub

The Editor Safety Hub is a dedicated training platform for news editors and managers, providing them with a free and efficient way to improve their safety skills and practice through self-paced courses, practical tools and resources. It is created by the ACOS Alliance and WAN-IFRA in partnership with leading safety trainers, editors and journalists.

Why is it needed?

News editors and managers play a pivotal role when it comes to journalists' safety and have the potential to positively impact the safety culture of the colleagues they manage and work with. Yet many news and commissioning editors receive little or no training and lack the essential skills and knowledge needed to support the safety of journalists they commission.

What does the Hub do?
The Editor Safety Hub provides news editors and managers with free access to tailored courses that help them to adopt good safety practices and empower them to work towards embedding a culture of safety within their newsrooms and organizations.

Launched with its first course, The Fundamentals of Safety Commissioning, the Hub will add resources, further courses and training opportunities as it develops.
