Myra Abdallah
Myra Abdallah is a Lebanese journalist, socio-political activist and gender expert with more than 15 years of experience in the intersection of media and human rights, with a focus on gender rights, LGBTIQ+ rights, diversity and inclusion, advocacy, media development and digital safety. Abdallah leads Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Digital Safety; and Communications for Women in News (WIN) program at the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) as senior manager, driving WIN’s communications initiatives and media relations, the gender and sexual rights-based diversity and inclusion approach, as well as the digital safety component for women journalists. Before taking on this role within the WIN program, she worked as its Regional Manager in the Arab Region and its Regional and Global Communications Manager respectively. Abdallah sits on the board of directors of the Arab Foundation for Freedoms and Equality (AFE) – Lebanon office, and on the online harassment advisory board of the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF). She is also the Director of AFE – Cyprus office. She works as a consultant for several international and regional organizations. She was nominated as one of the top 10 women thought leaders who shape conversations around diversity and equality in the MENA region by LinkedIn News Middle East in March 2022.
