Ramita is an award-winning journalist, documentary maker and author, based in London, UK, who has reported from over 40 countries and has a reputation for investigations in hostile environments. After a Masters in journalism at City University, London where her graduating film on transsexual legislation won the national Young Broadcast Journalist of the Year Award, she began her career as the Tehran correspondent for The Times. She then joined Channel 4’s Unreported World making twenty documentaries. She regularly makes investigative documentaries for PBS FRONTLINE. Her latest work for FRONTLINE and the UK’s ITV is Afghanistan Undercover, which won several awards and was nominated for two Emmys. Her first book City of Lies: Love, Sex, Death and the Search for Truth in Tehran, won Debut Political Book of the Year and the Royal Society of Literature's Jerwood Prize for non-fiction and has been translated into five languages.
